Texas and a number of other states have introduced legislation to allow the states to opt out of the “Affordable Care Act” because it isn’t affordable. The legislature is considering HB 5, written by Rep. Lois Kolkhorst, and a companion bill in the Senate by Rep. Joan Huffman. The bill made it out of the House during the regular session and is working its way through the Special Session now.
