Americans for Prosperity supports HB 33 by Rep. Sid Miller.
We realize that school districts – particularly superintendents – are opposed to this plan, and many are using our tax dollars to oppose giving parents options. In response to their opposition, we have one simple question.
If public school supporters are so concerned that giving parents a choice would result in a mass exodus from the public schools, does it seem like they have any confidence in the product they are delivering?
We believe that parents should be able to determine the educational environment where their students have the greatest opportunity to succeed. HB 33 proposes a “taxpayer savings grant” which would be a win-win for Texas students, taxpayers, teachers and schools. Estimated savings to the state is over $2 billion.
